The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) is a registered private higher education provider and a wholly owned subsidiary of ADvTECH Ltd, listed on the JSE.
The IIE’s Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE) is the custodian of academic quality, educational technology, and governance across the institution. It leads academic strategy, compliance, and operational integrity through robust governance structures.
The current ACE is in the process of being repositioned as a Center of Excellence, a hub for academic innovation, staff capacity building, quality assurance, and governance across both the schools and tertiary divisions.
We are excited to invite applications for the role of Head: Accreditation & Quality Assurance. Based at The IIE’s head office in Sandton, this role will support the Quality Assurance & Governance department.
The purpose of the job:
To lead and manage the institutional and programme accreditation functions in alignment with regulatory and quality standards. The role ensures the implementation of effective quality assurance systems and frameworks, oversees audit and review processes, and supports institutional readiness for both national and international accreditation. It also plays a key role in capacity development and continuous quality improvement.

Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position:
Programme and Institutional Accreditation Management
Programme and Institutional Accreditation Management
- Coordinate all aspects of programme and institutional accreditation
- Lead the preparation and submission of documentation for DHET, CHE, SAQA, and international bodies
- Oversee internal quality reviews to ensure alignment with accreditation standards
- Serve as the primary contact for external accrediting bodies
- Track accreditation cycles and maintain an institutional accreditation database
Quality Reviews, Audits and Site Visit Management
- Coordinate self-evaluation reports (SERs), evidence collation, and pre-audit reviews
- Plan and execute institutional readiness for CHE, DHET, or external audits
- Manage logistics and documentation for site visits and evaluations
- Conduct internal audits and reviews to identify and address quality gaps
- Report on outcomes and develop follow-up plans based on audit findings
- Implement institutional quality assurance frameworks and monitor adherence
- Develop and maintain systems and tools for tracking quality indicators
- Contribute to policy development and alignment with national and international QA frameworks
- Ensure consistency across faculties and sites of delivery in QA implementation
- Evaluate and refine internal QA processes for improved efficiency and impact
- Manage special QA projects, including preparation for international quality standards
- Contribute to quality enhancement initiatives across the institutions
- Represent the institution in quality networks and events where necessary
- Monitor trends in accreditation and adapt practices accordingly
- Facilitate quality assurance training and workshops for academic and support staff
- Lead quality assurance forums and build communities of practice
- Provide expert guidance on interpretation of QA and accreditation requirements
- Support departments in developing quality improvement plans
- Promote a culture of quality through advocacy and engagement
Qualification
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years as an Accreditation/QA Specialist
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Higher Education Environment
